Spending countless hours online searching for the fridge that has the space you need, especially when you might have a lot of mouths to feed, while also looking for the best price, can be all too tiresome and even futile at times. The wide range and differences might overwhelm you.
Regardless of how much of a pain it is, it’s necessary for you to find the best option for you, so we’ll try and make things easier for you by bringing you this review of the LG LRFCS25D3S refrigerator!
LG LRFCS25D3S 25.1-Cu. Ft. 3-Door French Door Refrigerator
The LG LRFCS25D3S belongs to the French Door type of refrigerators and offers great storage capacity for all your groceries. With many life-improving features, such as fingerprint resistance, you’ll be able to keep the clean look on par with its even cleaner functioning. Why don’t we take a closer look?
Construction
Thanks to its French Door style, which splits the usual main door into two separate ones and broadens the available space within, it allows you to store many more of your desired products. You won’t have to sacrifice space for features anymore.
The slick, stainless-steel finish doesn’t fall behind. Because of the resistance to small smudges, you most likely won’t have to be scrubbing the shiny exterior for small spots.
Freezer and Refrigerator Capacity
In order to keep a family’s stomach full, 25 cubic feet sounds like the magic number. With 16.9-cu. ft. solely reserved for the fresh food compartment, not only will you have considerable space for the food, but you’ll also be able to organize with more ease. The two full-width, adjustable glass shelves can help you in that very endeavor, as well as both of the humidity crisper bins ready to store your desired fruits and vegetables. And let’s not forget about the deli meat drawer!
The doors come with a total of six glass bins, three for each door, which can hold many cans and bottles of different sizes. And thanks to them being removable, they are quite easy to clean.
As for the pull drawer freezer, it comes in a 2-tier organization, meaning there is a top bin and a bottom one, summing up a grand total of 8.3-cu. ft. It also comes with an ice bucket for the ice maker which we’ll be explaining further down.
Dimensions and Weight
More capacity means greater dimensions, so measuring your space and assuring that you can actually make it fit into your kitchen is a very important step. We can’t hand you the measuring tape, but we can tell you that the LRFCS25D3S refrigerator has an overall length of 35.5 inches, an overall width of 32.75 inches, and an overall height of 69.87 inches. Because of the nature of the French Door type, the width is bigger than in other fridges, so take that into account.
The total weight of the fridge is 234 lbs. Do note that the weight is greater when it’s still packed inside the carton, and LG’s website displays that added total as 255.7 lbs.
Installation and Maintenance
The most basic steps for installation, which are found in the Owner’s Manual, require you to position the refrigerator on a dry and even surface, and in an environment that isn’t too hot or too cold. The refrigerator shouldn’t come in direct contact with sunlight, nor be placed close to the wall to allow proper air circulation. It should, however, be placed close to a water line. In case the fridge doesn’t fit through the door that leads to where you want to put it, you can remove the fridge door to ensure you don’t bang it against anything.
For the water line, although you can install it on your own, it is recommended to have a plumber or a trained individual to get this task done, as incorrect management of the water line can cause leaking or flooding, and no one wants that. Remember to only have the automatic ice maker on when there is a water supply installed.
Once that is all done, you’ll have to wait about 4 hours for the gas to settle. In that time frame, you can remove all the adhesive tape on the inside of the fridge and let the doors open so it gets ventilated. After that, you can plug it in and wait two to three hours for it to get cool enough to keep the food chilly and safe.
Before cleaning, remember to unplug the fridge for your safety and rinse and dry all surfaces to avoid odors. You can use a vacuum cleaner with a brush or crevice attachment to clean the condenser cover and vents. You should replace the water filter every six months, give or take, so the ice cubes come out nice and clean.
Annual Energy Consumption and Temperature Control
The LG LRFCS25D3S refrigerator has a yearly estimated electricity use of 608 kWh, which amounts to a yearly energy cost of $73. It is a bit costly compared to one-door units, but considering the capacity and other features, it would be worth it.
As for the control panel, it’s presented in a simple, yet functional way. It has a display for both the freezer and refrigerator temperature, which can be changed by pressing the respective buttons and cycling through the settings. By default, the freezer is set to 0°F and the refrigerator to 37°F. The remaining two buttons correspond to the Water Filter Replace function, which can be pressed and held for three seconds in order to reset the Filter, and the Ice Plus function, which increases ice making and freezing capabilities for 24 hours and it shuts down automatically.
Ice Maker and Defrost Type
This unit comes with a factory installed ice maker on the top bin of the freezer. It can hold up to 1.2 lbs. of ice cubes. Remember this can only work if you have the water supply installed.
And for the defrost type, it is completely automatic. The fridge will regulate the temperature on its own so frost doesn’t build up. Do note that it might make some noises like buzzing or rumbling while it defrosts, so unless the noises linger after defrosting or the functioning of the fridge falters, everything will be okay.
Certifications and Warranty
In the spirit of making sure that your unit gets the appropriate care in case anything bad happens, LG offers a 1-year general, 5-years sealed system, 5-years compressor, and 6-10-year linear compressor warranty. Likewise, labor on all those parts is included within the warranty.
For you to know that there will be no energy wasted when plugging your refrigerator in, the LG LRFCS25D3S is Energy Star Certified.
Additional Features
This model comes with a myriad of features that help not only when the fridge functions, but also when it doesn’t. What does that mean? Thanks to the Smart Diagnosis system, the service center will have a much easier time diagnosing and helping you troubleshoot any issues you may have with the product.
For a more functional addition, there is the Multi-Air Flow system, which maintains the humidity and temperature levels, so the food doesn’t spoil as quickly.
Price
The LRFCS25D3S is costly but if you look at the average price of a French Door, 25-cu. ft. fridge, it seems to be a just amount.
It’s true that you can find similar models with a couple more features, like the water dispenser. This particular unit only comes with an ice maker, but similar fridges in the same price range tend to include a water dispenser as the water supply is already there. Some even come with a humidity control for the crisper bins to swap between vegetable and fruit storage.
In the end, it comes down to what additional features you’re looking for and specific capacity, as those are the main differences between these models. There are fridges with less capacity but a tad more functionality, and vice versa.

After sifting through some of the customer reviews, we can say the overall opinion about this fridge is quite positive. Is the LG LRFCS25D3S the Refrigerator for You?
After seeing all the advantages and disadvantages of this fridge, we can conclude that this can be the fridge for you if you are looking for a unit that will just work well and maintain itself in your environment. Its features allow for seamless functioning and ease of troubleshooting, and major issues can be taken care of by the warranty if it happens within the time frame.
But do note that for the same price, you can be getting a refrigerator with a factory-installed water dispenser, even on a bigger unit. Of course, that comes at the expense of more room to occupy and a larger electricity bill. As you can see in the comparison above, those models tend to cost more in the long run. Nevertheless, it’s ultimately your decision if you prefer a smaller and smooth-functioning fridge to a more packed bigger one.
Why Choose LG
This fridge unit is made by LG Electronics, a part of the LG Corporation, both headquartered in Yeouido-dong, Seoul, South Korea. LG Electronics started producing small consumer electronics and home appliances, all produced on their very soil. Their success spiked when they started exporting their products, which naturally led to an overseas expansion.
LG Appliances
They have been making home appliances for a long time, from washing machines to microwave ovens, and made quite the name for themselves. Who hasn’t heard or seen those sweet high-definition LG TVs? When it comes to electronics, this brand sits at the grown-up’s table.
FAQs
It can be, but it would mean that the ice maker, one of the most useful features, will be left unusable, as it requires a water supply to be installed. Without it, the fridge might make less noise, but as mentioned before, the ice maker will not work.
The ice maker produces about 2.5 lbs. of ice daily, when it’s functioning in its standard mode. If the IcePlus function is activated, the ice maker will start producing 2.7 lbs. of ice daily. Please note that the storage capacity for the ice basket is 1.2 lbs., so it’s recommended not to initiate IcePlus if the ice won’t be used regularly, as it can result in overflowing.
Unfortunately, no. This particular model only comes in the stainless-steel look, as this is the way the fingerprint and smudge resistance can work. Other models might come in different colors, but we cannot assure that those units will have the same resistant surface.
Yes, they can. By downloading the LG ThinQ app, you can use the Remote Control function to adjust refrigerator and freezer temperature from your phone. This way, you won’t have to manually adjust it through the panel inside the fridge. You can also turn on or off the IcePlus function if you so desire.
This model does come with a door alarm that will alert you if the door has been left open. Many customers have expressed their delight towards this function, as sometimes you might forget to close it or just didn’t close it properly.
